About the event

Tutankhamun, being no more than ten years old at his accession, depended on the guidance and experience of family and courtiers to establish his kingship. This talk identifies the potential female influences on Tutankhamun’s life, from his grandmother to his wife, from his nurse to the matron of his harem, and explores the complicated relationships within the royal family.

Hilary Wilson is Chair of the Southampton Ancient Egypt Society. She has taught Egyptology to adults, university students, and school children, and has written several books on Ancient Egypt. She also writes Egyptian-themed fiction under the name Hilary Cawston.
