About the event
FoSMAG warmly welcomes Deborah Goatley-Birch for November's illustrated talk, uncovering the fascinating and hitherto hidden history of women’s football at both a national and local level.
Deborah was involved in researching and producing work for the Women’s Euros Football Tournament in 2022, along with Alex Lyons who was our Membership Secretary at the time. Alex worked with local stories and archives to create an exhibition in SeaCity Museum while Deborah produced a national creative resource. Both elements were part of the first ever arts and heritage programme that the Football Association has commissioned to accompany a major tournament. The aim of the programme was to promote female role models for young people through culture as well as sport.
